Rewrite the Rules: Fall Get Togethers

Fall's here. Surprise! But fear not: there is still time to get outdoors before the snow flies (and sticks permanently). Though all signs point to coming indoors, we're rewriting the rule book on how to approach fall entertaining.

Start with Location. Don't limit yourself to entertaining indoors, or your own backyard for that matter. We recommend packing up the car and heading to a scenic spot to set up shop. Even if the weather's chilly, layer on sweaters and bring along cozy throws. A few of our favorite scenic, car-friendly spots are in Curtis Canyon or on the Gros Ventre Road.

Pick a moody hue. As the days grow colder and shorter, we can't help but feel inspired by a moody color palette. For our picnic, we wanted to go dark. From linens to the color of our wine cans, even the food...dark hues unify the look. A few of our favorites: French Linen Black Check Napkins, black Falcon Enamelware Mugs and French Gray Heath Ceramic plates.

Let the sweets be the main. Create your event around...yes, SWEETS. It's suiting as Haloween approaches, and just plain fun. We chose our Chocolate Bundt Cake topped with Dark Chocolate Sauce, our Ginger Molasses Cookies and Hot Chocolate with Vanilla Marshmallows.

Invite your furry friends. Being outside is conducive to including everyone, including those with four-legs. Bonus, they help with clean up.
