Falcon Enamelware Tumblers are our go-to glass both at home in the Café. They withstand the test of busy Persephone breakfasts and only look better with time (we in fact prefer ours with a few dings from heavy usage).
Since the 1920s Falcon Enamelware has been an icon of British home life. We sought them out for our everyday water cup because of their durable nature and classic look, a marriage of form and function.
Enamelware is porcelain fused onto heavy-gauge steel, giving it strength matched with smoothness plus the added benefit of chemical-resistance. If you drop it (which we do, quite often) it may chip but it won’t break. The chips reveal the steel beneath, which will naturally oxidize but it remains safe to use while gaining a touch more character.
Falcon tumblers make great daily drinking glasses but they are also workhorses for other tasks around the home particularly as they age. We love them for storing pens on our desk, toothbrushes by the sink, and makeup brushes in our medicine cabinet. But perhaps our most favorite non-drinking usage is in the form of a mini-planter.
Succulents are still all the rage and happen to be the perfect size for the tumbler, which holds 310 ml. We recommend finding a small cactus, fill the bottom with small rocks for drainage, add soil along with the plant and top with more small rocks and voila -- you’re own upcycled garden.
