Chances are the mother in your life – be it your own, your spouse, your friend – proclaimed she didn’t need anything for Mother’s Day this year. That’s code for: Surprise me with something special. While respecting her wish for not another purse or perfume, you can make her feel truly special by surprising her with breakfast in bed. Turn to our shelves for menu inspiration:
.) Serve our Persephone granola atop plain Greek yogurt in a Sir/Madam Au Lait Bowl with a Roost ceramic berry basket filled with blueberries and blackberries. To complement the granola sundae, fill an Izola thermos with a fresh batch of Intelligentsia Jackson Hole Blend, ready to pour in a Falcon cup.
.) Wrap one of our demi-baguettes in a Sir/Madam Found Cotton Cloth – the pop of color is sure to make her smile – and pair it with Roots Kitchen jam and a Falcon kettle brimming with Bellocq Breakfast tea. Be sure to spread a Kontex towel on her lap so as to catch the crumbs.
.) Pile fresh pancakes – Huckleberry Café has a great recipe (and we have the book) – on a Falcon enamel plate and serve Nobel bourbon-aged maple syrup in a matching Kaico enamel butter pan. Let her wash it all down with piping-hot Intelligentsia coffee or Bellocq tea.
.) Why present her with one of our pastries when you can serve a selection on a handmade cutting board? Some of our favorites include the delectable kouign amann, the classic pain au chocolat, the irresistible fresh fruit tart, the nutty Morning Glory muffin or the savory sausage and rosemary muffin. So as not to overwhelm her, cut the pastries into quarters and save the rest to carry her (or you) through the post-celebration comedown.
