Fall Palate

Fall Palate

As pumpkins ripen and apples crisp, we find ourselves craving the flavors of fall. With autumn appetites in mind, we’ve stocked our shelves with artisanal goods that make for yummy munchies. Read on for recipes featuring our favorite wares.

Noble Bourbon Barrel Matured Maple Syrup

The mere smell of maple syrup signals autumn, conjuring images of buckets collecting sap and pancakes piled high. At Persephone, we smother our breakfast bread pudding in Noble’s ambrosial syrup. But why stop with breakfast? Bon Appétit, by way of Epicurious.com, turned us on to a Maple-Orange Salad Dressing perfect for sweet potatoes or any other amalgamation of fall produce. The recipe calls for: ¼ cup EVOO; 2 tbsp each of pure maple syrup, orange juice and sherry wine or balsamic vinegar; 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice; 2 tsp fresh minced ginger; ½ tsp ground cinnamon; and ¼ tsp ground nutmeg. A dressed-up dressing for fall.

Rye Whiskey Caramel Sauce

Nothing says fall more than caramel apples. For a spiked take on this classic, try Hot Cakes’ creative caramel, an unstoppable sauce laced with Old Overholt Rye Whiskey. The limited-edition sauce also sources organic cream from Fresh Breeze Dairy, making the overall effect as rich as it is smooth. Packed in a swing-top flask, Hot Cakes Caramel is the perfect giftable companion to a bushel of freshly-picked apples. Other applications for this sassy sauce include ice cream, hot toddies, bread pudding, waffles… the list is endless.

Bee Raw Honey

With the onset of chilling evenings, meals call for a warm finale, like this honey-roasted pear dessert we found on Sprouted Kitchen. Drizzle the baked Bosch pears in our Bee Raw Honey, a raw, single-floral-source varietal from Wisconsin. The bees would be proud.

Niner Olive Oil

For a fall snack, try coating fresh popcorn in olive oil instead of butter. We love the white pepper nuttiness of Niner Olive Oil, which pairs perfectly with this recipe for garlic-olive oil popcorn. It’s impossible not to eat the whole bowl.
