At Persephone Bakery we believe in infusing good design and artful occasions into daily life. Many of our favorite moments in the Café come from people commenting and reflecting on our vignettes, whether it be the wooden spoon wall installation or local artist Mike Piggott’s now-marquee “Butter” painting at the entry. We hope that our space can inspire people to bring daily beauty into their own lives, through food and art.
During this year’s Fall Arts Festival - one of our favorite times of the year - we asked local artist and community member Bronwyn Minton to create a site-specific installation in our windows at the Café. Bronwyn has imagined a whimsical series of disc sculptures, made from rice paper, encaustic, and aluminum wire, that twirl and sway throughout the day. The installation grows out of the artist’s continued interest in materials and patterns, often inspired by the natural world.
Bronwyn Minton is a multi-disciplinary artist, independent curator, and the current Director of Exhibitions and Programming at the Art Association. She holds a BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design and an MFA from the San Francisco Art Institute. She just recently joined the Art Association after being at the National Museum of Wildlife Art for over 13 years. Her artwork has been shown nationally and internationally and is in public collections including the Wyoming State Museum and the Nicolaysen Art Museum, St. John’s Hospital Foundation, Teton Media Works as well as private collections.
Stop by our café to see the installation in person. We hope it infuses a bit of unexpected beauty into your day.
