The food. The friends. The sun. The setting. The adventure. The vastness. As if by magic, all the world feels aligned at a picnic.
We created Picnic (Persephone Bakery’s sister restaurant) to conjure more of these memories. While we encourage people to dine in the restaurant, we also love supplying snacks for eating alfresco. All of our sandwiches and salads can be wrapped to-go (or are already packaged to grab quickly from our reach-in cooler) and they make a tasty starting point for a Picnic. We of course also add Potato Chips (made fresh everyday in the cafe), a can of Wine or a Spritzer, and a signature Persephone Bakery Cookie or Rice Crispy Treat!
Where are our favorite places to throw down a blanket and chow down?
• Russ Garaman Park — located just up the street from Picnic, on the bike path in the town of Jackson. Flat Creek rambles past, there are picnic tables available, and always cute duck families to keep us entertained.
• R Park — in the summertime, we’ll ride our bikes out to Wilson (just across the Snake River) and relax on the banks of the R Park pond or (even better) on an inner tube with our Wine Spritzer and Cookie in hand.
• Schwabacher’s Landing — drive just north of Moose, take a windy dirt road and if you walk up a bit past the boat landing, you can have your pick of lovely spots on the Snake River with some of the most epic views of the Tetons.
• Top of Snow King — for the more ambitious picnicker, haul your snacks up the town mountain (or ride a chairlift, find a perch and take in the elevated views. We’d pack extra water (in addition to the canned wine) for this one!
